We are home and finally getting our feet back under us!

Well, we made it home safe and sound and very tired. I have not had a chance to do any computer posting or blogging because we have been so busy since we got home. Meghan is doing well, but she is not sleeping throughout the night like she was in China. She wakes up at 430 in the morning or sometimes at mid-night. We are trying our best to keep her day schedule the same as it was in China, but the little booger crashes on us! And it is hard to wake her up!
Our trip home went very smooth. All of our connections were on time and we even made it into San Francisco 30minutes earlier than the scheduled arrival. That was a great help because it took us a good 30 minutes to clear customs. That includes doing Meghan's immigration paperwork and re-claiming the bags and then re-checking them in and clearing security again before entering the domestic terminal gate area. If any of you plan to fly to China through San Francisco and come home that route, keep in mind that when you go through customs coming home, you need to go to lane 4! We did not know this until we found out we were in the wrong line. There are no signs directing you to the proper line and all of the monitors say "U.S. Citizen or New Arrivals". When you enter the SFO customs area, go to your left all the way down towards the end of the room until you see lane 4. This is where the "new immigrant" line was. Had we known this, we may have saved 10 minutes! But, we did make our connection with 10 minutes to spare before boarding, so all worked out well.
When we got home, we were greeted by some friends who were very anxious to meet Meghan and see us. We also had some balloons on the mailbox announcing Meghan's home-coming. Her dad and my dad put them on the mail box when they came home to pick up the cars. We needed two cars to haul the luggage! All of our bags made it back, but we had some incidents. A can of formula burst or was opened in Meghan's bag. The powder was everywhere! Thankgoodness I packed most of her stuff in zip-locks, but there were still a lot of things that had to be rinsed and cleaned. I think that whole ordeal set me back a couple of days.
Since then, we have been trying to get Meghan outside and keeping her busy. We have had several visitors over to see her, besides my parents and brother being here the first days back home. We took Meghan to the zoo and over to visit another family friend. We also enrolled her in a water babies swim class. She loves to be in the pool, so we thought we would start her early with her swimming lessons! Plus it is a way to get her out of the house. She also went to the doctor today and we found out that she now weighs 16.4 lbs. She has gained a little over a pound since we first got her. He is going to do a full blood workup on her and next week she goes back for some shots. Overall our pediatrician was happy with her physical appearance and her personality. He told us to keep doing what we were doing and gave us some different formula samples to try her on. We were happy to know that she was not sick or had anything obvious wrong with her.
The next couple of days are going to be a little busy, but we also have some down-time built in. MJ goes back to work next week, so I am trying to do as much as I can before I loose his help around the house. Mostly I am organizing things so that they are easily accessible for me when I have Meghan by myself! Here are some pictures from our trip home and what we have been up to the past few days!

The airplane we flew on from Guangzhou to Hong Kong. The flight was a little bumpy, but it was short, so that helped!
This picture is for all of the airline buffs out there! We were having fun in Hong Kong looking at all the different airplane tails and aircraft types. This airport was impressive! One thing to remember is that when you land there at a domestic gate, there is an extremely long (approx. 30-45 min) walk to the international terminal.
Another view of Hong Kong airport. You can also see our plane home on the right side of the picture.
Meghan is officially a U.S. Citizen. Here she is on the last leg of our journey home!
The balloons her Grampy and Daddy bought for her to welcome her to her new home!

MJ and I went to Baby's R Us to buy Meghan an early birthday present. We purchased an activity center for her to help her explore and start using her legs! The cats of course had to check it out!

Meghan playing in her new activity center. She has a lot of fun and will play in there for a good 30 minutes. The little white bar (rainbow shape item) on her activity center makes all kinds of noises. She learned how to work it really quick!

We took Meghan to the zoo last Friday with her Uncle and she had a blast riding around in her stroller. You can see from the picture that she is quite comfy in it!

Meghan testing our her new crib. Her Nana made her crib set for her. Right now she is sleeping in the Pack n Play in our room, but we are hoping to start putting her in her crib for naps and then transition her to her crib (in her own room) at night.

Meghan going for a ride in her car seat. She is doing really well with the car seat. I was sitting with her in the back of the car, but today I moved to the front because she needs to get used to riding in the back by herself, because when I have her by myself, I won't be able to sit back there with her! She is really a good natured and easy going baby. We have not had any real problems with her, except for her teething. She is cutting 3 teeth on the top of her mouth. We call her the "Drool Queen!" Our next few days will be a little busy, but I am getting caught up and starting to feel a tad normal again! The next time I post, I will talk about things that I wish I had time for, or things that I took and did not need for those of you in the adoption world who are following our story. I know that any advice I was given was a big help. Until next time................
