The past couple of weeks have been busy for us, but also full of fun. Meghan's Grandparents came to see her the weekend before Easter, since they were not able to be here on the actual day. We took Meghan to get her first hair cut while they were here. She did great, but that is because she had just awoken from a nap. That is the best time to go for a haircut! She looked so cute sitting in the chair. We took her to Sweet and Sassy for her cut. We got a lock of her hair and a certificate dating the first hair cut! Such a big event. Her hair looks much better now that it is even. After her haircut we went to dinner so that she could show it off! The next day she recieved some nice Easter gifts from my parents. Meghan got some outfits, Ladybug gardening tools, chalk, books, and stuffed animals. She also got a toddler playset (slide and swing), a bubble mower, and a tricycle from her Dad and I. After my Dad and her Dad put the playset together, Meghan had a blast playing on it. After her Grandparents left, we brought the playset indoors because it was going to rain the following day and she likes playing on it.
Once we got it inside she played on it for a long time. She loves climbing up the stairs and sliding down. She is not too crazy about the swing, but likes to put her stuffed animals in it. I am sure she will get used to the swing over time. Then on the Thursday before Easter she had her school Easter Egg Hunt. I joined her for that and had fun being with her at daycare. Her teacher was great and I was very impressed with how well she cares for all of the kids. Every kid had Easter Eggs in their baskets. Meghan was so good at daycare when I was there. It made me proud to see her interacting with the others so well. She looked so much like a "big girl" and it made me sad that she is no longer a baby. That stage is going away slowly. Sniff, Sniff.
On Saturday, MJ and I took her to the Zoo. We had fun on the carousel (her new favorite thing to do!) and looking at all of the animals. When we reached the penguins, there was one who swam up to the glass and stayed there while we viewed them. It was like he was interacting with Meghan. She turned to look at us and he swam to the surface, squawked, and went back under. That caught Meghan's attention and she kept pointing and waving to him. It was too cute. Then another kid showed up and he moved on to that kid. Amazing what animals know and can do!
Meghan had a great Easter. We went to Easter Mass and she did great in church until the last 10 minutes. Then she was ready to leave. After Mass we went to brunch and then came home for her nap. Once she was up from her nap, she discovered that the Easter Bunny came! She had fun playing with her new toys and crayons. She loves to color now and play with playdough. This week she learned how to climb up on the breakfast table chairs. She knows that is where I keep her playdough and colors. We have to watch her like a "hawk" now! She is also now saying more words and the latest is "cu-hr" for "car" and "mama" on a consistent basis now. She would occassionally say "mama", but now it is said quite a bit! That is the coolest thing, to finally hear your child acknowledge you as "Mama" or "Dada". Meghan has said "dada" to her daddy for a while, but not "mama". My heart melted when she started making the connection and calling me that. Now we know she has completely bonded to us!
