We're in Guangzhou Friday update

Friday was our last day in Nanchang and the home province of Meghan's birthplace. We spent the morning doing some last minute packing and waiting for Meghan's passport. Meghan had a pretty relaxing morning and she took a really long nap. We finally got her passport at about 1pm and then checked out of the hotel around 2pm. Our guide, Gui Lan took us on a short tour to see some government buildings in Nanchang. They were massive. I won't post them on the internet, but it was really cool. Then we headed to the airport where we prepared to embark on Meghan's first airplane ride. Meghan was so good. She did really well on the plane ride and took two bottles. One on take-off and on upon landing. She also munched on a bitter bisquit and we were wearing some of it at the end of the plane ride. When we arrived in Guangzhou, our guide Samson met us at the airport and took us to the White Swan Hotel. It is absolutely gorgeous. We upgraded our rooms to a junior suite and when we opened the door to the room, our mouths hit the floor. There is so much space and the maids really take care of you. We even have two bathrooms! Mike uses the second one as the bottle making factory. We can't let Meghan see him prepare the bottles or she throws a major fit! She has some lungs and a temper! When she sees that bottle, she wants it and she wants it right away! So we hide it while we make it! The things you have to do to keep the peace!! The weather is very hot and humid. I was melting the minute I stepped outside and so was everyone else. It is way worse than Dallas in the summer at 105 degrees. I can tell that we will be sending out laundry while we are here. Here are some pictures from the day and of our hotel room.

Meghan waking up for her big day! She is starting to like her snoopy doll.Saying goodby to Nanchang. A look at the river and the city.On the bus to the airport. This little girl has no idea what she is in for! Meghan saying goodbye to her Chinese auntie, as our guide Gui Lan, likes to be known as. Meghan loved her and would always smile when she saw Gui Lan.

We arrived at the White Swan after dark, so I will post a picture of the outside of the hotel later. This is a look at the hall bathroom as soon as you enter the room.

The living room section of the junior suite. There is a nice wet bar that makes a good baby food preparation area.

Another view of the living room area. It is very spacious!

The bedroom with the baby crib! We had to exchange the crib because it was too low for Meghan. She is not standing yet or sitting up on her own yet. I wanted a little higher crib so she can see us when she wakes up.

Another view of the bedroom. There is lots of room for big bags in the junior suite because it has all kinds of nooks and crannies. Also, the hotel leaves silk robes on the bed for you to wear. It was too cool. And they give you chocolates by the bed at night. There is even a place on the nightstands by the bed that controls several lights in the room and pipes in music (classical, talk - Chinese, and rock - Chinese). We used the classical music to soothe Meghan when we put her down for the night.

A look back at the living room from the bedroom. MJ said this was well worth the upgrade and a great way to end our adoption journey. We are going to enjoy it and savor the memories.
