Here she is!!

After 18 months of waitng, we finally get to see our little girl's face!

Her Chinese name is: Fu Mei Ting
She was born on: August 13,2006
She was brought to the Yingtan Social Welfare Institute (orphanage) on :August 16,2006.
She is now in foster care.
She is in Jiangxi Province, China - The town where the orphanage is located is in Yingtan.

Some details about her. (These are from Jan. 2007, she was 5mos. old.)
-She is 14 lbs and 24 inches long. (She is really 14 lbs not

16lbs)
-She can hold her head up on her tummy.
-She likes music and games.
-She can locate sounds and recognizes her name.
-She can follow toys when moved.
- She is a deep sleeper! (Like me!)
-She is very active!
We recieved the call while both MJ and I were working. I was teaching and checked my email. Our agency called our home at 11:54 am and then my cell at 11:58am. I checked my email and then immediately called MJ at work. He called our agency and asked them to stay at the office until we both got home at 3:30pm. We called them back at 3:35 and got the news that we have been waiting so patiently for! We are very excited and can't wait to meet her. We should have more details about her tomorrow. Our agency is Fed-Ex'ing all the paperwork to us! We are expecting our travel to take place sometime between mid-late June. Also, she has her birthday in the same month as MJ's mom and my Dad and Brother. In fact, she was brought to the orphanage on my Dad and Brother's birthday! We are going to have one big month of celebrations!! It is amazing how things work out this way!

Congratulations!!!

She is so beautiful!

You know, I think she is probably from the town of FuZhou (also known as LinChuan) in JiangXi. I am guessing that since "Fu" is her assigned family name. All the children at the FuZhou Social Welfare Institute in the province of JiangXi are given that family name when they enter the orphanage. My oldest daughter (now almost twelve years old) is from that specific orphanage. She was "Fu WeiQian".

Some trivia that you might be interested in... when we were in China eleven years ago, our guide (a Chinese national, but NOT a native of JiangXi) told us that the town was originally named LinChuan, but, that during the Culutural Revolution, they changed the name of the town to FuZhou (not to be confused with the HUGE city, FuZhou that is the capital of Fujian province). It was during the time that the town was called "FuZhou" that the orphanage was named. Later, the townspeople decided to go back to their town's original name because "everyone in China knows that highly intelligent people come from "LinChuan" but no one knows that highly intelligent people come from FuZhou!" Our guide told us that a disporportionally large number of China's greatest intellects trace their roots back to the little town of LinChuan. It is very famous for this.

Well, our little "Fu" baby TAUGHT HERSELF to read when she was two years old. She has always had a near photographic memory and is an incredibly fast learner...so, maybe there is something to the reputation that town has! (My second daughter from another area of China is very bright, but not uncommonly so.)

Congratulations, again!!!

(Actually, NanChang is a city in JiangXi province (the capital, in fact). That is where we stayed when we were adopting our first child. The children were brought to us by bus from the actual town that the FuZhou Social Welfare Institute is located in, to the city of NanChang where we were staying. We were not permitted to travel to the town where the orphanage is located.)
